National WEA News:

WEA National Conference 2018:

Association Conference 2018
WEA Conference 2018 is happening across multiple venues and will have a one day format as decided by the last conference in Sheffield. There will be three venues linked by videoconference and we will also be live streaming over the internet to give all members the opportunity to contribute.
The principal theme is Social impact and citizen engagement and we are delighted that WEA Fellow, Lord John Bird, will be giving the keynote address.
The three venues are
University of London, Student Central, Malet Suite
University of Salford, Chapman Building
University of Edinburgh, John McIntyre Conference Centre
WEA Conference provides the opportunity to
  • Receive a report from Trustees/WEA Council on actions taken in relation to all motions passed or remitted by the previous Association Conference
  • Debate policy matters
  • Consider and vote upon advisory motions submitted by WEA branches, local associations, WEA Scotland and English regions, WEA Council, plus affiliated organisations and other enfranchised bodies
  • Hear and consider the views of Association members and representative bodies
One nomination was received for each of the two Officer roles of WEA Deputy President and WEA Treasurer. This means there will be no ballot for these positions.
You can download all of the papers and a booking form below or reserve your place via eventbrite using the venue link
