Health & Well Being Walk Thursday 1st September:
The meeting location is outside Hildersham Village hall in the centre of the village by the road bridge over the river (CB21 6BU), where you can have a comfort break before we start our circular walk around the village.
Andrew will lead a walk of approximately 2 miles, ending at the picturesque church which has stunning Victorian wall paintings, where we will have tea and cake.
If you would like lunch this is available in the neighbouring villages of Linton & Balsham.
It will be a history walk, with frequent stops at places of interest with outstanding views, yes we do have a few lumps and bumps in Cambridgeshire, such as Furze hill, which is topped with glacial gravels in a line stretching from the Gogs Magog Hills.
Man has lived in the Hildersham area since man first was on this planet, with flint tools found on both areas of high ground. Saxon raiders named Hildric & Abba came and settled with the local inhabitants, later the Catholic landowners became very close to the Kings and Queens of the land giving the village a very rich history indeed.
